Atara Arad
Hebrew Language and Literature Teacher
Since 2008, Atara Arad has been a passionate Hebrew teacher at Kivinim. Her career in education began after her service in the Israeli army, teaching new immigrants in a development town. Atara has taught in many different settings, including Des Moines, Iowa (where she was a premed student, on her kibbutz, and for many years at The Abraham Joshua Heschel School in New York City. With deep roots in Israel, tracing back eight generations on her mother’s side, Atara integrates Hebrew language instruction with Israeli culture. She enriches her classes with popular Israeli TV and radio programs, music, and different media, ensuring students at Kivinim connect with the experiences of their peers in Israel. Atara’s love for teaching is evident in her daily enthusiasm, her bittersweet farewells at the end of each year, and her renewed excitement with every new group of students.
